SAN DIEGO – May 27, 2016 – PRLog — (The following is an open letter and offer from Democratic Presidential candidate “Rocky” Roque De La Fuente to presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump.)
Dear Mr. Trump,
We haven’t met, but we have two things in common: We are both running for President, and we are both extremely successful businessmen. Beyond that, we share few other similarities.
While I was born in Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California, my parents, who were Mexican citizens, were just visiting this great country at the time. I suppose that makes me one of those “anchor babies” you would deport because you don’t believe in the 14th Amendment. However, unless that Amendment is repealed, I will forever be proud to be a first generation American citizen. I’ll even send you a copy of my birth certificate if you’d like to see it. As I recall, you seem to have a fascination with them.
Speaking of which, I also recall that you offered $5 million to the charity of President Obama’s choice if the President would releases his birth certificate and college and passport records. Let’s hold on to that number for a moment.
I recently saw that there may be a little conflict between how you valued The Trump National Golf Club in Westchester County, New York. ABC News reported that your candidate disclosure form stated that club is worth “more than $50 million.” However, your tax attorneys have reported that The Trump National Golf Club in Westchester County is really only worth $1.35 million.
Now, I’m sure your estimate on the disclosure form must have been in error. Perhaps you accidently added a zero to the number. Otherwise, it would appear that you were consciously trying to deprive the little town of Ossining of more than 90 percent of property taxes it might otherwise expect.
To help you avoid any appearance of intentionally defrauding the taxpayers, I’d like to make you an offer.
Assuming that you inadvertently added a zero to the estimate of the club’s worth on your presidential disclosure form, you believe the property has a value as high as $5 million, and I’m willing to pay top dollar.
So, just like your $5 million offer to President Obama, I’m going to make a $5 million public offer to you. I am willing to pay you $5 million for The Trump National Golf Club in Westchester County, New York, “as is.” The $5 million is a net figure because I’m sure a great businessman like you doesn’t have a property like that club teetering on the edge of bankruptcy with any associated debt that I would otherwise be required to assume.
Besides, if your tax estimate is correct, my offer is about 3.7 times more than the property’s worth. You can even claim that you’ve taught me a lesson in “the art of the deal.”
As rich as you are, you may want to donate the $3.65 million premium I’m paying you toward building your wall. You’ll probably get to take a deduction, and assuming you to intend to strip away my citizenship at some point, you’ll be able to legitimately claim that you got a Mexican to make the first payment.
As I recall, your $5 million offer to the President had a deadline of 5 P.M. Eastern on October 31st, which was Halloween. I always wanted to know if you picked that date because you had a sense of humor or because the color of a pumpkin reminds you of someone you know.
In any event, my offer stands until 5 P.M. Eastern on May 30th, which is Memorial Day. Maybe we can celebrate together by holding a Town Hall debate that day to raise money for veterans like you did in Iowa. Just promise that if I can convince you that your wall isn’t a good idea, you’ll consider giving an extra $3.65 million to the vets. That would be huge!
