The environment is a global issue to which mankind clearly contributes. Non-renewable energy is exactly that: non-renewable. That implies that we need to build a cogent strategy that ultimately replaces non-renewable energy with renewable resources. However, we also must recognize that technological evolution does not simply occur by regulatory mandate.

What if we incentivized technological advancement rather than punished the lack of it?
What if we rewarded creativity and success rather than regulating it with fines and fees?
Would we stimulate a more positive interest in solutions rather than expending funds on compliance?
Would we inspire the private sector and universities to work together to accelerate development?
Would we be safer, and would we be better able to address issues like poverty, illiteracy and health care that challenge us at home?
Would we decrease the economic risk to existing energy sectors during the period of technological migration?
Would we systematically move toward energy independence in a responsible way?
